Background and Creative Practice

I hold a degree in Fashion Design and a PhD in textile technology, a dual background that allows me to approach fabric design with both artistic fluidity and technical precision. With over a decade of experience bridging the gap between scientific textile research and contemporary fashion design, my creative practice focuses on the intersection of materials technology, cultural and environmental context, and surface design aesthetics. In my current high-end fashion practice, I approach fabrics as canvases for further design customization. Combining distinct textiles into unique patterns and applying gold leaf printing are key techniques in my collections, creating contemporary pieces tailored to the region's sophisticated clientele. I also emphasize sustainability by creating exclusive designs using carefully sourced, predominantly natural fabrics. Beyond their luxurious hand-feel, these materials are selected with the region's warmer climate in mind, offering a perfect balance of elegance, comfort, and wearability.

My textile research background has revolved around developing smart textiles with integrated green technologies, including energy harvesting and cooling. A key challenge in this context is the seamless integration of such technologies without compromising comfort, wearability, or commercial scalability—a subject of continuous independent research interest for me. In my latest research, I have focused on developing thermally conductive flexible polymer composite materials adapted for 3D printing. Through this work, I have gained first-hand knowledge of functional coating materials and techniques compatible with textiles. While my fashion and research practices run in parallel, my ultimate vision is to combine these paths to deliver innovative, heritage-inspired products that stem directly from textile science and design.
